Adrian and Lesley Hughes, a British couple, were shocked since they woke up in an empty hotel. The worst was they woke up while fires were burning around them. One of a firefighter told Mr. Hughes that the town of Gatlinburg had been evacuated so that they needed to pack up their belongings and "get out".

Mr. Hughes said that at about 8 pm, there had been a line of fire from the mountain behind the hotel. At about 9 pm, the fire had been going down to the city. As a result, a member of staff said that they were considering an evacuation at about 11pm. After waiting for an hour, there was nothing happened. So, the couple assumed that everything was fine and they decided to go to bed. This incidence brought 7 people to the death and many more people are missing.

Although the couple was in dangerous condition, luckily they are still safe. On the other hand, I am also sad for 7 people who died in this incidence. God be with them.

Turkey dormitory fire: Six held after 11 schoolgirls die

There is a fire at a secondary school dormitory in Southern Turkey. 12 people died, included 11 schoolgirls and a teacher, while 22 people were injured. The dead victims mostly were found near the door which was locked. 6 suspects have been arrested of this incidence.

An electrical fault has been blamed for causing the fire, which spread rapidly due to the wooden structures and carpeted floors in the building. Based on the data, all girls are under 14. Some of them managed to escape and they were injuring themselves by jumping out of the window.

This is bad and sad news. If the door was not locked, the schoolgirls could run and save themselves. It means that no one would die. However, the door was locked and it brought them to their death. Most of the schoolgirls are under 14. They died at 14 and they will never feel the future.

Brandi Worley is a mother who has 2 children, 7 years old son and 3 years old daughter. She called 911 and said that he killed all of his children. She also said that she had stabbed herself and killed her children. She did that because of her divorce.

She told the story to the officers by phone. Her husband wanted a divorce and he wanted to bring the children to live with him. However, Worley did not want to live without her children. She was angry and disappointed. As a result, she stabbed herself in the neck and there was so much blood.

I am sure that actually she loves her children. She did not want to spend her life without her children. Not only a divorce, her husband also wanted to bring the children. Maybe she did not want to life lonely. She showed her anger by doing the wrong things. She pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday and is being held in jail without bail. Her life will be so hard. Anger can change us.

Gunman shoots six people, kills two in Baltimore shooting believed to be retaliation

A gunman shot 6 people. This incidence occurred in northwest Baltimore on Wednesday night. 2 people died and one of the shooting victims, a man, was critically wounded and he has to fight for his life. While, a women and two other men suffered non-life threatening wounds in the shooting.

The authorities have not known his identity yet. They still do not know his name. The detective and the police still collect the information, any information, to track down the killer. So far, they just knew that the suspect is identified as a black man.

Honestly, I have no idea about this news. I cannot give longer comment since the news has not completed yet. Maybe the suspect had his own reason why he changed into a murderer. Or, that is the real character of his self.

A former marine, Christopher Brandon Lee, had killed the wife on another serviceman. The victim, whose name is Erin Corwin, still in 19 years old, while Lee is in his 27. He had killed in the Mojave Desert while they were having an affair.

Corwin’s body had been found in an abandoned mineshaft outside of Twentynine on 16^th August 2014. Earlier this month Lee was found guilty of murder and the jury found true a sentencing enhancement that the killing involved lying in wait. Lee had killed her because he had been angry. Corwin had been suspected that she had molested a family member.

I do not know, whether people are heartless or brainless. While doing this assignment, I knew that there are many crimes in this world. Most of them are murders. People are so mean. Revenge is everywhere. It is very easy for people to kill each other with any reasons.

CCTV footage released that the man was approaching the open door of the truck while the driver retrieves his mobile phone from the cab.

The authorities got a report that a fishing vessel, chartered by 11 people, lost in New Zealand. This accident brought 7 people to their death and 1 person was missing. Wayne State University Cop Dies a Day after Being Shot in Head in Detroit

Collin Rose (29), a police officer at the Wayne States University in Detroit, was killed last Tuesday by being shot. He was a k9 officer and he had worked in Wayne States for 5.5 years. De Angelo Davis (31), the suspect, was arrested at late Tuesday about a half-mile from the scene.

This incidence occurred at 6.30 P.M. At that time, Rose had been investigating car break-ins when he had stopped a bicyclist. In addition, Rose, who was engaged to be married next October, is the first Wayne officer who died at the place he worked.

For me, being a police is not easy. I used to think that being a police is the easiest job. But I was wrong. I realized that being police officers are difficult, especially when they have to solve problems about crime. The worst is, they can get injured or be killed. Sherri Papini (34), a mother of two young children, eventually was found on 2^nd November. She had been missing for 3 weeks. She was found near interstate 5 about 150 miles south of the site where she disappeared. She was safe, but she got some injuries.

Her husband reported that she was missing after she failed to pick up their two young children from baby day care. Also, her cellphone and headphones were found near where she was last seen. Based on her husband, she could drop her cellphone, but she would never forget to pick their children up.

Her family was very happy when she was found. For them, the day she came back was the best thanks giving day they have ever had. Also, her husband thought that she was a super mom since she never abandoned her family. When I read this news, I remember about my mom because she also a super mom. Every mother is tough, strong, and caring in their own way.

Vanessa Oviedo (27) was fatally shot in the head while she was pregnant for 35 weeks at that time. Luckily, her baby was saved after doctors delivered the boy by emergency C-Section, even though the boy did not breathe at first. This incident was occurred at a busy Central California intersection.

Oviedo was travelling with four others by car. Then, another car came and shot them. Andrew Agguire (23), driving the car, was shot on the leg. Detectives predicted that their car was targeted, but they did not know who the special target was.

This is such sad news. Oviedo is a pity woman. Fortunately, her baby is safe. Maybe there are some reasons why the doers shot them.

Missing Los Angeles couple drank their own urine while lost in the desert

Los Angeles couple eventually was found after 5 days got lost in the dessert. Mariya Mitkova (27) and Aaron Morganstein (33) were found in a good condition  near the U.S.-Mexico border. They were reported that they drank their own urine to survive there.  

The couple was last seen leaving the pair’s home in the 2200 block of Shoredale Avenue, in Elysian Valley, about 3 p.m. last Saturday. They planned to drive to Joshua Tree National Park or Imperial Sand Dunes for the weekend. They were expected to back home on Monday since they have to go to work. But, they didn't back. They could not use their cellphone until they found a cell tower. Then, they called their friends.

For me, they are very strong and tough. They could survive for 5 days in the dessert without eating, but just drinking their own urine. It seems disgusting. However, their effort to stay alive has to be appreciated.

Florida man dies fulfilling dream to surf off Huntington Beach

Dana Brown, 60, was caught by the wave in the Huntington Beach and he was  fatally injured. That wave swelled 4 to 6 feet and the sun began to set. He died in a hospital four days later.At first, brown had dreamt that one day he would be able to drive the van he lived in on the other side of the country to Huntington Beach to surf.

Brown lived in his van with his father. When his father had been sick, he had taken care of his father, such as bathing, feeding, and reading a book for his father. He had spent his whole day with his father. When his father died in March, Katz said, Brown was heartbroken. As a result, Brown left Cocoa Beach on a journey to the Huntington Beach surf spot he had dreamed of. Unfortunately, he died there.

Brown was a loving man. He had given all of his life for caring his father with love. But now, he died doing what he loved. Based on the news, Brown will be buried next to his father, in Cocoa Beach on 3rd December. Good Bye, Brown. You are the real heroes in this world!

New York police sergeant killed, another injured in shootout with robbery suspect

A police from New York department, whose name is Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo (19-year veteran), died after a shootout with a home-invasion suspect. Actually, he died after being taken to Jacobe Hospital. Also, Sgt. Emmanuel Kwo (9-year veteran,) the other sergeant, was injured but still in stable condition. This incident occurred in the Bronx on Friday.

At 2:45 P.M., the police received a call from a woman. She said that there was a man who had broken into a home with a gun and he fled with a red jeep. Then, police identified his name, Manuel Rosales (35). He had 17 prior arrests in Suffolk County, where he lived. Then, the police shot and killed him. Manuel was reported died at scenes.

From this news, I know that to be a police is not easy. We have to face any risk if we are a police. Even though we can die at the place we work, we have to be ready. Based on the data, about 53 police officers have been shot and killed in the place they work, so far in 2016.

A South Carolina man, whose name is Todd Kohlhepp (45), killed 7 people in a decade. Young Kohlhepp was cold and callous teenage. He was smart, bed-temper, and felt that the world owed him something.

He was arrested after the police found a woman who was locked in a container for two months on Thursday. She said that Todd killed her boyfriend, Carve, by shooting him multiple times. She also said that Todd kill 4 other people. Kohlhepp is charged with kidnapping a woman.

Actually, I do not understand why people can kill others.  Are they scared of what they have done? Why are people so heartless and brainless? Todd killed 7 people. If I was Todd, I would be scared every day for the rest of my life.

Ricardo Medina, an ex-Power Ranger actor, killed his roommate whose name is Josh Sutter on 31^st January 2015. It occurred on their Green Valley home. Medina is going to be back in court on 20^th October. If he is convicted, he will spend his 26 years of live in jail.

Medina killed his roommate after they argued about how Medina’s girlfriend had parked her car. Media felt that Sutter had disrespected his girlfriend. Using a sword, Medina grabbed Sutter’s abdomen multiple times. Then, he called 911 and he still stayed at the place of scene until the police came.

Honestly, I do not understand about human’s thinking. Most of my reading assignments are about murder. A lot of people have done that crime. They can kill their friends, their family members, or strangers. Medina has killed his roommates. However, he also called 911 after doing that crime and stayed in the place until the authorities came. It looks like he killed, then he regretted his action.

Kidnapping a women clerk in Exposition Park, Jose Eduardo Gaxiola Caro (29), was arrested and charged with a host of felonies and faces life in prison. Caro kidnapped his 28 years old victim on Wednesday afternoon at 2:50 P.M. He also brought a hammer to support his crime.

Caro tugged his victim by her arm when she tried to pull away. Outside the store, the woman tried to fight back since Caro pushed her forcefully into the passenger seat of his red Honda Civic. After that, he drove off South on Denker Avenue. However, the victim managed to escape. She was taken to a hospital for receiving medical evaluation, after she was found at a cemetery in North Hollywood. Related to the crime that he has done, he was charged with attempted premeditated murder, kidnapping to commit rape, assault with intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon, and he also accused of using a knife and a hammer in the crime.

We do not know the reason of the crime. But, in my opinion, Caro has received the worth punishments. If the woman had not managed to escape from Caro’s car, she would not be safe right now.

El Cajon videos show police officer shooting unarmed black man

Alfred Olango (38), an unarmed black man, was shot by police officers on Tuesday. The evidences of this incident are two videos. The first video is from a cellphone and the second is from a fast-food restaurant security camera.

The videos show that Richard Gonsalves, who is a police officer, was following Olango to the park area. Then, he pointed his weapon to him. However, Olango briefly clasped his hand while Olango’s sister was crying there. Suddenly, a second officer whose name is Josh Mc. Daniel appeared holding a Taser. After that, Gonsalves fired. At least 4 shots were heard at that time. El Cajon Police Chief Jeff Davis said that the department still doing the investigation to collect the other evidences.

I am so sad for Olango and his family. I am sure, they never imagined that Olango will be shot for no reason. Maybe there will be any reasons, but we have not known yet. I wish the authorities would find the reason as soon as possible.

The rumbling, which comes from under the Salton Sea, started Monday morning. Also, more than 200 earthquakes had been recorded. It is occurred in California, where the mighty San Andreas Fault ends. The earthquakes hit in a populated area. Luckily, no deaths were reported. 

The San Andrea Fault’s southernmost stretch has not ruptured for 330 years; meanwhile a big earthquake is occurring each every 150 or 200 years here. Based on the US geological Survey, over the next seven days, the chances of a magnitude 7 or greater earthquake being triggered on the Southern San Andreas were as high as 1 in 1000 and as low as 1 in 3000. The biggest earthquakes hit later that morning and at night, a 4.3 twice followed by a 4.1.

The earthquakes usually happen in California. Consequently, the government can prepare well for the civilian, so that when the earthquakes come, they will be more ready. A big earthquake not only can kill people, but also can damage buildings or public facilities.

Man who said he did his childhood friend a favor by killing him is sentenced to 10 years

This summer, Beong Kwun Cho (57) was sentenced to spend the 10 years of his life in jail. It is related with an incident in early 2011 when he killed his friend, Yeon Woo Lee by shooting in the back of Lee’s head. Lee, lying next to his rental, was found dead. Cho said that Lee, wanting to commit suicide, had planned his own death. He had also asked Cho to shot him so that his family would not receive the social criticism about his suicide and would receive life insurance payouts.

There were two different views about the death of Lee. Jumi Lee, who is Lee’s daughter, judged Cho as a betrayal since he had killed and maligned his four decades friend. Lee was a strong and an open minded father. Consequently, Jumi Lee thought that it was impossible if his father had wanted to attempt suicide. In contrast, based on Robert Kohler, Lee’s attorney, there was a shocking fact about Lee. Lee had manipulated and coerced Cho to kill him by sexually assaulting Cho’s wife. Even though Lee had arranged this unpleasant event, Cho was still alleged as a suspect of a planned murder, because the evidences showed that he wore black gloves before shooting Lee.

It is such a very complicated incident. We will never know what happened in reality. We do not know whether Cho did a thing to help Lee or he was trapped by Lee. But I am very really sure, no matter what the reason was, killing his four decades friend was a very hard decision for Cho. In addition, Cho said that if he could give his life to apologize, he would. He also added that he would modest accept the punishment, whether it was 21 years in prison or death penalty.

Danielle Raines (58), the wife of KABC-TV chief meteorologist, was arrested on 31^st August at 4 A.M. Blind drunk Raines violated her 25 years old daughter by pushing, striking, and strangling. It occurred while Raines’ daughter was driving home her mother from a country club.

After Raines had drunk wine with her daughter, she became belligerent. Consequently, her daughter decided to drive her mother home. In the middle of their journey, Raines started to attack her. Raines has to face her 4 years in jail, but she paid $30.000 bond to be released. Now, she is active in local philanthropy and recently served on the organizing committee for the community scholarship foundation of La Canada Flintridge.

This news shows that people who got drunk is frightened. They can lose their control and do anything bad to others. They do not care even though they hurt their family or their friends. Luckily, Raines did not kill her daughter.

On August 3^rd,Jose Vega Zuniga (38) was sentenced to 20 years in prison and convicted of the DUI charge since he entered the US after prior deportation. Several days after the federal judge, he crossed the border near San Diego. The authorities said that his escapism was helped by his wife. Consequently, his wife was arrested a month later and had to spend her 10 years in federal lockup.

Not only was deported 4 times, Jose also has many criminal histories. In 1998, he was convicted to 2 years in prison because of the heroin trafficking. In 2000, he got another 2 years in prison because he illegally entered the US. In 2007, he had to spend his 2 years because of the deadly weapon’s case in Riverside County. He also illegally re-entered the US in 2011. Now, Jose is believed in Mexico.

Jose is a very criminal. He was deported 4 times and he spent many years in Prison. I do not understand why his wife helped him to escape since I think that Jose got the worth punishment of his crime. After he spent his 6 years in Prison, now he will spend his 20 years in prison. His wife also got the worth punishment, so that Jose cannot escape from his 20 years in prison.

Mother gets 21 years to life for drowning toddler in custody dispute

Veronica Rivas (30), a mother, has to spend her 21 years of life in prison. She intentionally drowned her 21-month-old toddler son whose name Elijah in the bathtub. The reasons of this case were revenge and spite. Rivas had to split the custody of Elijah with her husband since she had treated Elijah as her pawn.

In September 2014, she placed her toddler in her bathtub and held her toddler head underwater. At first, Elijah still fought to her mother’s action. But it just occurred in short time. After Elijah regained consciousness, Rivas called her husband and asked him to give up on his custody of Elijah. However, Marine Sgt. Juan Concha, Elijah’s father, said no. Then, Rivas held Elijah’s head underwater for the second times until he died. Now, Concha hopes that he will always stay in California since his son was buried there.

Elijah is a very poor toddler. He did not do anything to his mother; he did not understand what happened between his mother and his father, but he got the effect of his mother’s anger. Reading this news made me sad. Especially when Concha said that Elijah’s toy, a blue stuffed elephant, is the only thing about his toddler which he has. He strongly grabbed it when he was in court. Usually, Elijah slept with that toy. It is the most heartbreaking part for me.

Suspected Gunman Arrested after Man Killed and Woman Injured in Long Beach Shooting, Police Say

A man was killed and a woman was injured because of the gun shooting. It occurred on Wednesday afternoon in a residence in Long beach. After 4 hours, the suspect was taken to the police and arrested.

At 4:30 p.m., police officers were called to a home in the 5400 block of Atlantic Avenue. They found a man’s body outside the apartment, while a woman was taken into the hospital. Unfortunately, this case has not finished yet. The suspect’s identification has not been released.

It has just occurred. Consequently, the police officers have not finished the identification yet. The identification of suspect and the victims also have not been released yet. But, from this article, we know that there are too many mean people since they can finish others’ life. They do not respect the human right.

Boy, 11, Found Dead in Echo Park Closet Weighed just 34 Pounds

Yonatan Aguilar was found dead in a closet in his Echo Park home. The police found him wrapped in a blanket. When a police officer lifted a corner of the blanket, two cockroaches crawled out. The police thought that he was 6 because his body was so tiny and stiff. But he was 11. He was born premature and suffered from inability to control his bladder and bowel movements.

Yonatan identified as a malnutrition child. He was always dirty and hungry when he came to school. Besides, he also received abuses since 2009. In 2009, Yonatan’s school nurse called the police since he got 2-3 inch scratches on his face. Then Yonatan said the police that his angry mother slapped and scratched him. He survived in his family until his death on 22^nd August.

Yonatan was a human, but he was not treated humanely. He was a malnutrition child, he was a premature, and he could not control his bladder and bowel. With all of his disability, he had to get his mother’s care and assisted. In fact, his mother did not care about him. For me, Yonatan was a very though children since he could survive for his life by himself until he was 11 years old. Now he is in a better place and he does not need to survive anymore.

Heart-breaking news came from Robby Gordon, who won fame Racing in the IndyCar Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Robert Gordon (68) and Sharon Gordon (57), the father and stepmother’s Robby Gordon, were found dead on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Kennymead Street. Sharon was identified to be chocked, while Robert died because of self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Their bodies were found by a neighbor after family members asked the neighbor to check them since the family members could not communicate with them. Tim Cecil, knowing Gordon’s family for more than 20 years, was shocked. He said that they were a nice couple. Robby and his three sisters were very upset too.

I am very sad to this family. A couple was known as a nice couple, did such of thing. Robby was very sad. He lost his father, who has the same hobbies with him. This news shows us that people can do anything that we never imagine before. Although they were known that they had a nice relationship, Robert Gordon was chocked his wife before he shot himself. Maybe they had a problem and Robert could not control his emotion.

On late Tuesday, Hovik Krboyan (37), is a father, was shot and killed in Woodland Hills. He was at home with his wife and his daughter at that time. It occurred at 11:50 p.m. at his house, 4900 block of Medina Drive

When there was called from the front door, he was expecting that it was a pizza delivery. Unfortunately, he met an unidentified assailant and he was shot multiple times. A neighbor who was hearing sounds of the gunshot called the police. A victim is believed that he knew the unidentified assailant. The authorities said that usually cases like this related to business or domestic disputes.

If the real reason of this case is business, people are so mean. They were driven by their own businesses to do anything whether it is wrong or right. Business can close the owner’s eyes and heart. Sometimes, if people cannot control their selves, they can be a fraudulent people. I think it does not only occur in business, but also in daily life. Remember that jealousy is the meanest devil that can ruin yourself and your life.

Expected to lead prostitution in nine countries across Central and Southern California, five people were arrested in San Gabriel Valley. The suspects, all Chinese nationals, were tracked from an illegal advertisement. In February, members of the Ventura County Sheriff’s office, along with the District Attorney’s office and the Oxnard Police Department, found the advertisement about Sex Trafficking on backpage.com and the other social media.

All of the victims identified as Chinese females, who came to US for working or studying. They were taken to the rented rooms where they had to perform sex acts. Besides sexual abuses, sometimes they also received violence. Unfortunately, they did not speak a lot to the authorities. There are two possibilities, they cannot speak English well or they are fearful.

Recently, human trafficking is popular. Human trafficking is not only occurring to teenager, but also to children. This condition is very terrible I think. So many children are kidnapped to be an object of sexual abuses. The authorities have to give the worth punishment to the suspects since they did not treated other humans humanely.

On mid-morning 12^th November 1973, Valerie Janice Lane(12) and Doris Karen Derryberry (13), from Olivehurst were reported missing. A day before, they went to a mall in the nearby town of Linda. They did not return to home. Consequently, Valerie’s mother reported to the police. Several hours later, their bodies were found along a dirt road near Camp Far West lake outside of wheatland by a man who had been target shooting.

More than 60 interviews had been done to find the answer of this case. In 2014, Yuba County sheriff’s detectives reviewed the case and sent crime scene evidence to the California Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Service for testing. They got DNA evidence as the result. From that evidence, eventually they arrested Larry Don Patterson (65) and William Lloyd Harbour(65), the suspects  for this case, in Oklahoma and Yuba County.

I am very sorry for Valeri and Doris’ families. More than 4 decades, they lost their family’ members in the murder case, but the authorities could not find people who were responsible for their death. Now, the suspects were arrested. The authorities have to give them the worth punishment since they did a brutal crime. The detectives and the authorities have finished their job very well. Although this case needed a very long time to be finished, they never gave up. The never closed this case until they succeeded.

Pair Sought in Kidnapping of Dead Woman’s 3 Young Children

Kimberly Harvill was found dead on 14^th August along Gorman Post Road in Lebec, close to the country’s border with Kern Country. The authorities concluded that she was murdered since she has multiple gunshot wounds in her upper body and trauma to the head. Her husband is believed to be deceased and her three young children, whose names are Joslynn Watkins (2), Brayden Watkins (3), and Rylee Watkins (5), were missing after her death.

Kimberly’s sister, Brittany Humprey (22) and Humprey’s boyfriend, Joshua Robertson (27) were suspected of kidnapping the three young children. Robertson has a criminal history, while Humprey are armed and dangerous. They are also suspected of homicide. Some witnesses gave the new information of this couple, such as their car’s identity, their California license plate, the color of their car, and the place where they have probably reached.

I am so sad about the three poor young children. Both of their parents were dead in their early childhood. Also, they were kidnapped by their dangerous aunt. I still do not understand why their aunt can do this crime. I wish, the authorities will get a lot of information from the witnesses, so that the children can be found soon.

Italy Earthquake: Death toll rises to at least 159

An earthquake occurred in a mountainous area of central Italy at 03:36 on Wednesday, August 24^th. The tremor of the earthquake, which has 6.2 quakes struck magnitude, was felt across Italy, from Bologna in the North to Naples in the South. It killed 159 and injured 368 people. Most of the victims are children. 86 people have been killed in two towns, Amatrice and Accumoli, while the others 34 died in Le Marche province. Almost all of the buildings have collapsed, especially houses. Consequently, Mayor Stefano Petruci decided to build tents for they who need shelter. The worst is, although the loss of life rises, many people are still believed to be buried under the rubble.

However, in the middle of gloom, there was still blissfulness since some people can survive for their life. In Accumoli, rescuers could save a family with two young sons. While rescuers were looking for the other victims, they heard the screams of a mother and her two sons.  Then, rescuers immediately tried to find them. In Arquata, a grandmother successfully saved her grandchildren’s life by pulling them under a bed with her. Additionally, rescuers saved an 8 years old girl in Pescara del Toronto after she has buried under rubble for 17 hours.

After reading the bad news, I feel very sorry for the victims and for all people who lost their family’s member in such catastrophe. I wish that Italy will get a lot of help from other countries soon. In addition, we know that in 2009 an earthquake killed 300 people in L’ Aquila and in May 2012, 20 people were killed because of two tremors nine days in the northern Emilia Romagna region. Totally, thousands people were killed in the same catastrophe. The data showed that an earthquake is not a stranger in Italy. So, the government has to prepare the facilities well. For instance, in this modern era, they can build very strong buildings, so that it can stand longer when there was a tremor. Also, the government has to paid more attention at the geographical conditions of Italy. When they find a small tremor’s signal, they can warn people to prepare the presence of an earthquake and they can prepare all of the facilities that they need, such as help from other countries, medical stuff, etc. #PrayforItaly
